10U & Older: Spring Development Program

Overview

The program is run by Chesterfield Hockey Skills instructors, St Louis Knights coaches and Maryville University coaches-with on-ice support from current Maryville University Men's and Women's players.

There are on-ice goalie training sessions as well as off-ice training for all players.

This 8‑week, twice‑a‑week spring program combines high‑tempo skill development sessions with in‑house games to reinforce concepts in a competitive setting. The focus is on skating, puck control, shooting, game awareness, and confidence so players can elevate their game heading into next season.​


Coaching Staff

  • Chesterfield Hockey, St. Louis Knights and Maryville University Hockey skills instructors & coaches
  • Supported by current Maryville University men’s and women’s players
  • Dedicated goalie coaches and goalie‑specific training

A mix of forward and defense coaches at each level to ensure individualized instruction for all positions​.

  • 12U (Coed & Girls): 2014–2015
  • 14U (Coed & Girls): 2012–2013
  • 16–18U (Coed): 2008–2011
  • 16–19U (Girls): 2007–2011​

SCHEDULE, LOCATION, AND FORMAT

Evaluations Take Place - Mandatory to Attend

March 9th – 12th (specific times will be posted closer to evaluations). It is 100% your responsibility to check the website for evaluation group assignments and status. Do not expect an email


Players are evaluated and placed in a skill appropriate group.

Program Begins

March 30th – May 21st (specific times and group assignments will be posted closer to the start of the program).

The organization reserves the right to adjust program details, dates, and times at its discretion. Because evaluations are player‑specific, special requests for particular group assignments (including car‑pooling) cannot be accommodated for Evaluations or Group placement.

Frequency

  • 8‑week program
  • Two sessions per week (one development session plus one game slot).​

Location

  • All sessions will take place at the Maryville University Hockey Center.​

Standard Weekly Pattern (Coed)

  • 10U Coed (2016–2017):
  • Thursday: 60‑minute development session
  • Sunday: in‑house game
  • 12U Coed (2014–2015):
  • Tuesday: 80‑minute development session
  • Sunday: in‑house game
  • 14U Coed (2012–2013):
  • Wednesday: 80‑minute development session
  • Saturday or Sunday: in‑house game
  • 16–18U Coed (2008–2011):
  • Monday or Tuesday at 4:20 pm: development
  • Wednesday or Thursday at 4:20 pm: game

Standard Weekly Pattern (Girls)

  • 10U–19U Girls (2007–2017):
  • Monday: 60‑minute development session
  • Saturday: in‑house game

Specific ice times and final group assignments for all divisions will be confirmed and posted closer to the start of the program. We reserve the right to adjust this schedule for any reason.


Cost

Practice jersey included with cost. No refunds will be issued after registration.

Coed - Forwards / Defense:

  • 10U: $495
  • 12U-14U: $530
  • 16U-18U: $395

Coed - Goalies:

  • 10U-14U: $350
  • 16U-18U: $250

Girl - Forwards / Defenses:

  • 10U-19U: $530

Girls - Goalies:

  • 10U-19U: $350

  • We're brand new to hockey. Is this the right program for my child? If you are brand new to hockey, please explore our Learn to Skate and Learn to Play programs. The Spring Development program requires prior hockey experience. If you have any doubt or questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
  • How do I register for just the St. Louis Knights Spring Program? There isn't a separate Spring program. This is a shared Spring program between all of the clubs listed above. Evaluations will determine team skill level placement for Spring.
  • Can we get a prorated fee due to conflicts? We're sorry. We will be unable to prorate any fees.
  • Are evaluations mandatory? Yes. This is the method we use to place your child on the appropriate skill level team. Unless told otherwise, all players and goalies are expected to attend all assigned evaluations.
  • Can I request my child be placed in the same group as their friend? Because evaluations are player‑specific, special requests for particular group assignments (including car‑pooling) cannot be accommodated for Evaluations or Group placement.
  • Will there be a waitlist if registration is full? Yes. We will provide a waitlist link on this webpage if necessary. Please note by placing your name on a waitlist, we can not guarantee any registration openings will become available.
