Chesterfield Hockey Association to name new addition Kelly Chase Family Rink

Chesterfield Hockey Association is pleased to announce that they will be naming the third sheet of ice coming soon in honor of Kelly Chase. The state-of-the-art Maryville University Hockey Center that Chesterfield Hockey Association opened in 2019 wouldn't be here if it weren't for Kelly Chase and his support. Kelly helped the organization secure much needed donations and provided key input into making this dream a reality. His passion for creating the next generation of NHL players and his love for the St. Louis community will forever be appreciated.

In just 6 short years, Chesterfield Hockey Association has:

• Opened the state of the art Maryville University Hockey Center
• Grown enrollment by 45% including the Lady Falcons program
• Opened the Falcon's Nest Bar
• Added seating for 400+ to the HK Rink
• Added the GMBM Training Team
• Expanded the spring and summer camp programs
• Been great stewards of past donations and grown wisely throughout the years

And, now we are asking for your assistance to help us add a third NHL-sized rink which will allow us to support the high demand for youth ice sports and fulfill our original mission of providing a 3-rink facility to the community. Our goal is to raise $2 million to make this project a reality and break ground this fall and we are counting on YOU!

Frequently Asked Questions

I heard that there is an additional expansion going on with Maryville University. What's that all about?

Maryville University is elevating its men's hockey program to NCAA D1 and has conducted their own capital campaign (separate from our 3rd rink expansion) to support this. At the heart of their campaign is a planned expansion of the Maryville University Hockey Center, adding more than 12,000 square feet of Division I-caliber space and increasing seating capacity in the Shanahan rink to 2,000. The new design emphasizes a dynamic, student-centered game-day experience that brings the community together. Maryville aims to commence construction in Fall 2026, with completion targeted for the start of the 2027-2028 hockey season.

How is the 3rd rink being funded?

This project will be funded entirely separate from Maryville University's NCAA D1 enhancements and expansion. However, to take advantage of construction costs and alleviate extended construction time overall, it makes sense to conduct both projects simultaneously. We are asking for support from you and the community to help us fund a minimum of $2 million towards the project. In addition, the project will be funded through Chesterfield Hockey Association's current equity as well as debt financing.

What are Chesterfield Hockey Association's plans with the Pacific Ice Rink?

Great question! Our plans are to sell the Pacific Ice Rink upon the opening of the third rink in the fall of 2027 and use that equity to pay off a portion of debt financing for the 3rd rink.
